Biography
Jun Chong is a Singaporean filmmaker and producer and is interested in the stories that connect us on a deeper level. His debut short film 《客》 premiered in Busan International Film Festival 2017 and went on to clinch the “Best Asian Short Film” and “Best Actress” in Sapporo Short Fest 2018. Following which, Jun Chong’s “New Resident 新民” was thrusted into local news and limelight after facing rejection to screen it from the local authorities. It then later went on to premiere in international film festivals such as Taiwan, Thailand and Dubai.
Jun’s most recent work, “Siti”, a 3-minute short film about the memories of a domestic helper, clinched the top prizes in Cine65 2021. The film was awarded the prestigious top "Movie Makers Award", "Best Film", "Best Screenplay" and "Best Cinematography".
Apart from his narrative projects, Jun also participated in other different genres of projects as well. Just this year in 2023, Jun directed 4 short films for the National Day Project 2023. He directed the Opening Film and 3 Show Films for NDP23, which work in tandem with the live show to give the audience a seamless experience. He also directed a series of 3 Music Videos with Singapore veteran songstress Joi Chua 蔡淳佳.
Jun was also an alumnus of the prestigious Asian Film Academy in Busan International Film Festival 2017.
